We shot our latest 1800s period film using the Vertiscope effect— to enhance the story of the film. The background stretch mimics painterly brush strokes, while the tight framing creates an intense, claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in time. Check it out in this behind the scenes!
Vertiscope (or vertical anamorphic) is a filmmaking technique where you mount a traditional anamorphic lens sideways and rotate your camera 90 degrees, so the lens ends up being the right way.
